Both Tyler Smith and Jared I. Edwards are well know in the greater Hartford area for their distinguished professional careers as well as their extensive civic involvements. Both were involved in the founding of the Hartford Architecture Conservancy in 1973 and served on its Board of Directors for over a decade. Tyler Smith was also a founding director of Riverfront Recapture, Inc., and more recently, All Aboard! Inc. Jared Edwards has long-standing involvements with the Mark Twain Memorial and the Wadsworth Atheneum.
As recognized experts in the field of restoration and adaptive reuse,
they have successfully led Smith Edwards Architects to a position of
pre-eminence in this field. More recently Tyler Smith has focused his
energies on elementary school facilities, resulting in some of the firm's most important and distinguished work.
Both Tyler Smith and Jared I. Edwards were recognized for their significant contribution to the architecture profession by being named Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) in 1993 and 1985 respectively.

Kenton C. McCoy , AIA, has played a central role in shaping the design direction of Smith Edwards Architects. He is a talented and facile
designer with particular expertise in school facilities, master planning, adaptive reuse and urban design.
