Smith Edwards Architects was selected to provide design services for the restoration and renovation of the Historic Litchfield Courthouse. The initial feasibility study will include conducting investigations and documenting the existing conditions of the courthouse, and clarifying the building's new program requirements. Three conceptual designs will be prepared to test the initial proposed program's need against the physical limitations of the courthouse and site. One scheme will be selected by the Judiciary Department to be developed into a recommended schematic design: complying with building and public safety codes, as well as historic preservation considerations, and with a proposed construction cost budget.
