The Dye House is a handsome and substantial building, typical of many of the other buildings in the historic Cheney Mill District that have been successfully converted to housing. Smith Edwards Architects has undertaken field investigations to better understand the building and site, and its potential for adaptive reuse. The projected renovation will include approximately 65 loft-style one- and two-bedroom units. The historic features of the building: granite lintels and sills, heavy timber framing, and soaring ceiling heights will be incorporated into these distinctive apartments.
